cloudnotes

Sometimes it's necessary to drag a pretty big net -- what with so much to catch, but it is often true that the bigger the net, the bigger the holes.  Consequently when I am forced to drag my big net I catch big things, but other smaller things slip through.  I may one day figure out how to weave a big net with smaller holes.  This looks like a good place to start.

sunday

A day of rest for the spirit.  As for the body, we found some rugged hills to stir our hearts and remind us to give thanks for strong legs and lungs.   It's far too easy to say that I am grateful.

witness

I was given the rare gift of unexpected time to experience the veritable miracle of potential realized.  Witness to the force of becoming, unleashed, cells dividing, life expanding and parting the thin air to fill newly created space.  Regeneration casting dust into tissue, blossoms like babies, leaves like the shiny pink of freshly healed wounds.

real

I am reluctant to speak out against what we call real but this is what I know:  It is so powerfully consuming and there is something in me that still rebels against that kind of possession.

charms

As a subject the moon did not care to oblige, but still freely did cast all of its charms on the sweet limbs over my head.  Merci aussi aux étoiles...

still

Wet honey cedar lilies,
though there are no cedars,
nor lilies.
A memory of the inside of a grandmother's chest of drawers,
or some fine French soap I've never known.
It's so easy, and so hard to want things to last
and to want only to be quick and light and unable to hold back.
Released.  Unleashed.
Cycle of bloom and fade,
fruit and decay, this is not always comforting,
but still true.

apple blossoms

and moon

The thing about leaving home is that there are new sights for eyes that have grown used to the familiar, but it's just as well to come home to see familiar sights through new eyes.
